01Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Technical Artist with a deep understanding of real-time graphics, strong technical problem-solving skills, and a passion for enabling artists to achieve exceptional visual quality.
We believe great technical art is about bridging artistic ambition and technical reality. The best solutions do not simply solve individual problems. They create reliable, scalable workflows that empower entire teams to produce better work.
In this role, you will lead technical art initiatives, collaborate closely with artists and engineers, and help establish the tools, pipelines, and technical standards that support high-quality game production.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who combines strong production experience with the ability to mentor technical artists, make informed technical decisions, and drive complex challenges through to production.
02Key Responsibilities
Technical Art Leadership
Lead and support technical artists across rendering, shaders, tools, optimization, and production workflows.
Establish technical art standards, quality benchmarks, and best practices.
Work closely with Art Directors, Technical Directors, Artists, and Engineers to align visual goals with technical requirements.
Identify technical risks early and develop practical, scalable solutions.
Mentor technical artists and provide constructive feedback and technical guidance.
Rendering, Shaders & Optimization
Develop and improve real-time materials, shaders, and rendering workflows.
Investigate rendering issues, performance bottlenecks, and visual inconsistencies.
Support optimization across geometry, materials, textures, lighting, VFX, and asset pipelines.
Establish performance budgets and validation processes appropriate to target platforms.
Help teams understand rendering limitations and make informed technical decisions.
Tools, Pipelines & Production
Design and develop artist-friendly tools, automation, validators, and procedural workflows.
Improve workflows for asset creation, import, setup, and in-engine implementation.
Collaborate with engineers to integrate technical solutions into production systems.
Prototype new approaches and take successful solutions through to stable production use.
Maintain clear technical documentation and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
Act as a bridge between art, engineering, and production.
Collaborate with distributed teams and external development partners.
Support technical planning, estimation, and prioritization of technical art initiatives.
Proactively improve workflows and remove recurring production bottlenecks.
03Requirements
7+ years of professional experience in Technical Art or closely related game development disciplines.
Proven experience as a Lead Technical Artist, Senior Technical Artist with leadership responsibilities, or equivalent.
Experience contributing to commercially released game productions.
Strong understanding of real-time rendering, shaders, materials, lighting, and graphics optimization.
Professional experience with Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or comparable real-time engines.
Strong scripting or programming skills using Python, C#, HLSL, or equivalent technologies.
Experience building technical art tools, automation, and scalable production workflows.
Excellent understanding of real-time asset pipelines and performance constraints.
Strong debugging, profiling, and technical problem-solving skills.
Experience mentoring technical artists and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to translate creative requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
04Bonus Skills
Deep experience with Unity URP/HDRP or Unreal Engine rendering systems.
Experience with mobile GPU optimization and performance-constrained platforms.
Knowledge of procedural content generation, Houdini, or node-based production tools.
Experience with custom rendering features, compute shaders, or GPU-driven workflows.
Familiarity with character systems, VFX pipelines, and technical animation.
Experience establishing technical art departments, workflows, or team standards.
Previous experience in international co-development.
05What We Offer
Meaningful ownership over technical art quality, tools, and production standards.
Opportunity to lead challenging technical initiatives and influence production workflows.
Direct collaboration with experienced Artists, Engineers, and Creative Directors.
Remote-friendly international working environment.
Competitive compensation and flexible contract options.
Long-term collaboration and opportunities for professional growth.
Annual Beffio team retreats and a supportive studio culture.
06Ready to Connect Artistic Vision with Technical Excellence?
Send us your portfolio, technical breakdowns, and a short introduction. We would love to see examples of tools, shaders, workflows, or systems you have developed and the production challenges they helped solve.
Ready to roll the dice?
The application is a focused 3-step flow: the same questions our recruiters ask, none of the ATS clutter.
